Green Economy drives sustainable growth in SA and Africa!
Everything we do during and after this crisis must be with a strong focus on building more equal, inclusive and sustainable economies and societies that are more resilient in the face of pandemics, climate change, and the many other global challenges we face. What the world needs now is solidarity.”
~ António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations

Since December 2019, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has quickly spread all over the world. In March 2020, it was declared a global pandemic by the WHO, having affected virtually all countries and territories. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are under threat everywhere, as nations face unprecedented health and economic challenges.

While the negative consequences of the crisis are clear, times of extreme uncertainty can also be windows of opportunity, if couple with innovation and doubled down on long-term, sustainable growth strategies. The 10th annual Sustainability Week will now be brought to you as a live virtual event, thus offering both exponential global reach and accessibility by easily bringing the content directly to the audience. The conference will facilitate a Global multi-sector dialogue that has never been more important and more timeous.

With the effects of climate change biting down like never before, wide spread environmental and human health challenges at the municipal scale, and the desperate need for employment and economic development—one key cross-cutting policy strategy has never been so obvious and so potentially powerful—economic stimulus through the green economy.
